Ahhh.  Very interesting solution.  I wonder what says Tom about
implementing this one.

Most systems won't allow two default routes with the same metric.

Ubuntu systems create the default route at metric 100. So Shorewall doesn't replace it -- the Shorewall added default route is simply added in front of it.
