martian logging to confirm, and nothing is logged as a martian when testing the connection again. I also have other DNAT rules specified coming in tds01 (to
the same IP even), and those work fine.

Then I have no idea what the problem is.

But I would still try turning off route filtering. Because that is the only cause that I know of that can drop a packet between the nat PREROUTING chain and the filter FORWARD chain.
