With Shorewall-perl, you can simply set MODULESDIR the way you want it in shorewall.conf:
MODULESDIR=/lib/modules/$(uname -r)
and the exported script will execute this statement during its
initialization:
MODULESDIR="/lib/modules/$(uname -r)"
