Dear list I have used shorewall earlier on mandriva systems for personal use. But I have configured it only for an eth0 interface (since the machine in question was connected to the internet via a local lan). Now I am using shorewall on a Ubuntu 8.04 system installed on a notebook. The notebook sometimes connects to the internet via eth0 and sometimes I have to use a USB modem. When I use the modem, shorewall blocks all outbound connections to the internet. I would like some help on how to configure both ppp and eth to work with shorewall so that the same rules that apply to eth should apply to ppp when that comes on. The question is probably a trivial one but since I am not a shorewall expert, I am not clear how to proceed. So I request some guidance on this.
