NFS is truly excellent. I can copy files from one Linux PC to another 
with speed of 80-88Mbps on network rated 100MBps.

I use Krusader's automount option and have added mount point in fstab. 
NFS's shares are IP oriented so you can add share "/" for one IP/subnet 
but to be invisible to the rest of the world.
