Actually, not all of the LAST LINE comments should be removed. Those
that are in files processed by the shell (*.conf, params) should have
the lines retained because the shell's '.' builtin ignores the last line
of a file if it is not newline-terminated. The #LAST LINE thingies
insure that the last meaningful line is newline-terminated.

I hacked up your patches and have applied them to my tree.
