Ahhh.  fallback.  Another new (to me) option.  I relish the idea of
making my tcrules simpler so I will look into migrating some of these
features into my own config.

Wow.  It is simply uncanny how that diagram reflects my configuration.
One less interface, where I don't have a server on a dedicated
interface, but I have the ports (and vlan capability) on the router to
do it if I wanted.

But that whole explanation of the slow DSL vs. the high-speed cable
connection and using the latter for all traffic except connections that
originate from the Internet and are destined via the DSL to a static IP
(only one in my case).  Simply uncanny.

Ahh.  One fairly significant difference is that my router is the
endpoint (i.e. has the static address assigned from) of the DSL
connection, not a path to the static IP as in our case.  Although from
your route_rules file, it appears that your DSL IP is 206.124.146.180,
yes?
