Ideally? Yes. Just like any other service/app I install (nginx, apache, etc). Build the app, install it into a directory, setup the config files & service files, start it up ... Realistically? I can live without it. I figure you're doing what you're doing currently for the benefit of the distro-packagers. i'm trying to install for the "un-distro" ;-) If I have to move/install stuff FROM 'my' install location to "make it work", so be it. Practically, just let us install it in the 1st place to a DESTRIT/PREFIX of my choosing without all the auto-crowbar "intelliigence" based on assumptions that don't fit my case. This whole issue *starts* with wanting to have a sinlge version of shorewall across all distros; preferably in sync with your upstream releases (or a beta, if I need to). Currently that's just not possible.
