That is the ip that lsm pings!
Here is the response when my one customers microwave link came back up.

Following parameters were passed:
newstate     = up
name         = micro
checkip      = 196.4.160.12
device       = enp2s0

196.4.160.12 is the ip address of a very top class ISP's ftp server here
in South Africa.

You chose either a far distant ip that is pingable or maybe a first or
second hop router. Just what rocks your boat to prove that the link is up!
