Just being pedantic, the config file is "wrong" in this. If someone writes mbit 
without specifying that this is the config file syntax then as an engineer I'll 
interpret it correctly as milli-bit - ie 1000th of a bit, 10^9 smaller than you 
mean since the SI abbreviation for "mega" is "M".
It's an important distinction - I have graphs that have values both in mbps and 
Mbps in the legend. In other fields I have an interest in, the difference 
between "m" and "M" can be spectacular and/or life threatening.

I usually specify speeds in kbps (where lower case is correct), partly because 
it avoids the annoyance when using tools that don't recognise M and having to 
remember which tools accepts what.
