Tom & Matt:

The script I would write would have Shorewall up & running when finished.

For Example:
Shorewall 4.x .deb
If you install using the .deb, you will find that your /etc/shorewall directory is practially empty. This is intentional. The released configuration file skeletons may be found on your system in the directory /usr/share/doc/shorewall/default-config. Simply copy the files you need from that directory to /etc/shorewall and modify the copies.

This script would do the coping as needed for the number of interfaces. The installer may have to add to rules file for to complete the install.

I would try to have it determine how many interfaces and which is loc or net. I think it would be possible with two or less (using rf1918), but with three the installer would need to tell what each interface would do. If the program can not determine it would have to ask. I know in Tom's system it would have to ask.

I hope this gives you an idea what I am trying to accomplish with out more detail.

I personally would need more as in installing Webmin, DHCP, and DNS server and have them running as well. Just think how much time could be saved by doing this.

I did something similar for a PBX. Except for provisioning phones the PBX was accepting calls.

I have a question for all on this list?

I am planning to write a bash script to install Shorewall for myself.
What I was wondering is would anyone else would be interested, as I
would release with min the same License as Shorewall?

Hi Eric,

What will your script(s) do that the ones released with the Shorewall
packages currently do not do?
