We have been experiencing a similar problem for a long long time, but it
relates to all workstations connect to a server running Centos
3.10.0-693.17.1.el7.x86_64. Currently on shorewall 5.1.12.3.
Strictly using ipv4 with three interfaces (two dedicated local and one
dedicated to firewall router).
We are having to ping every workstation on the our internal network to
keep them active (and set keep-alives with SMB.)
Changing "tuned-adm profile network-throughput" helps.
I don't understand the Schacht-Wiegand patch but so much appreciate
knowing I may not have lost my mind.
Our symptom is that a workstation cannot connect. Ping out to the
workstation starts in a few lost packets, then it clear up, but easily
lost if activity is not continuous.
