Worked, thanks. But unfortunately I get many segfault in shotwell-video-thumbnailer. Interestingly, it only segfaults when called from shotwell: L 15383 2014-09-25 11:52:05 [DBG] VideoSupport.vala:897: video MPEG0007.AVI has become interpretable L 15383 2014-09-25 11:52:05 [DBG] VideoSupport.vala:224: Launching thumbnailer process: /usr/local/libexec/shotwell/shotwell-video-thumbnailer L 15383 2014-09-25 11:52:05 [DBG] VideoSupport.vala:231: Spawned thumbnailer, child pid: 19036 But then I see: [18107.012302] shotwell-video-[19036]: segfault at 1b32e90 ip 00007f00eaed74de sp 00007fff46c41258 error 4 in libc-2.19.so[7f00eae47000+19f000] Doing the same manually on the cmd line: $ shotwell-video-thumbnailer /home/norbert/pictures/2010/07.17.Kobe/JC/MPEG0007.AVI Failed to play the file: couldn't get state. $ SO it seems that s-v-t *needs* to be called from within shotwell.
