Sorry, I should have been clearer. When one selects an event or tag in the left hand pane one sees a set of thumbnails in the main window. In Picasa in the equivalent display one can then drag the thumbnails about in the main window to get them in the desired order. As far as I can see, in Shotwell, one can only use View > Sort Photos to re-order them based on certain criteria.
