Right now Shotwell will not detect missing files.  It won't corrupt the
database, but you'll still see them in Shotwell.  In 0.7, we will scan the
files and verify they're present, and if not we'll mark them as offline
(they'll be in a "Missing Files" page).

How do you envision the Merge Duplicates feature to work?  I'm not sure I
understand what that would do specifically.
