Hi there, are there any plans to support reading exif data out

Yes - we have a ticket for this: http://trac.yorba.org/ticket/3093

I feel also vey concerned by this question as I planned to buy a new camera and hesitated between Lumix LX5 (AVHCD/mts videos) and Canon S95 (H264/mov videos). I wonder if I will be able to deals with Shotwell the videos embeded by the Lumix camera... Do you have any date (0.9 or 1.0) for AVHCD support in Shotwell??? Does it depends on Shotwell or another library?

Shotwell reads date/time metadata from video files by itself. We'd like to do that using GStreamer, but GStreamer can't handle all the necessary formats yet (including AVHCD/MTS). (See http://trac.yorba.org/ticket/2836 and the tickets it points to for more details.) Even once GStreamer is able to read the metadata we need, we still won't be able to use it until some time passes and new enough versions of GStreamer make it into the major distributions.

So if we want to be able to read MTS date/times in the near future we need to implement that in Shotwell itself. I think it's too late to take this on for 0.9 since our feature freeze is this week. But I think we should implement this for 0.10 since a number of users have reported they are using this format. I've upped the priority on the associated ticket ( http://trac.yorba.org/ticket/3093 ) to high.
