This is quite surprising. I'd expect this to print "Vala 0.11.7". It
looks like you may have an invalid installation of Vala. Where did you
get Vala - from a Debian package? Or did you build it yourself? If
it's from a Debian package, I suggest you pass this on to the package
maintainer - it looks like something may be wrong with the Debian packaging.
