Thanks, I will try it in a while.
Just before I got your reply I decided to simply install gexiv2 system
wide, and then I managed to get past this error message.

On the other hand, it worked beatifully for 6 months or so, with
PKG_CONFIG_PATH... or has something changed in the latest version of Vala?
