In this<http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2011/08/lucid-lives-10-apps-updated-ubuntu-10-04/>post on OMG!Ubuntu they mention there is a PPA that provides updates for the latest Shotwell. It's unsupported by Yorba of course, but it may work. The usual disclaimer of use at your own risk applies.
