Hi Ian,

About your comments here:

If one imports "in place" a batch of photos (easily done by accident due
to the (IMO insane) placement of the 'import in place' button that has
no 'saftey' "are you sure you want to be this insane" type option), and
then subsequently try to fix this by importing using 'copy to library',
shotwell (correctly) identifies the images as duplicates, and doesnt
import them.

I agree. Indeed, I've opened a ticket called "Import with 'Copy to
Library' after 'Import in Place' should copy photos to library
directory"
[...]

It would really be fine, if there could be used more than one
"shotwell library directory" (which I would call photo repository, btw).
And if the databases also could be used at the place where the photographs are held.

That's, what I elaborated in more detail a while ago.
It would allow transportable photo-repositories / "libraries",
which include the photographs as well as the tags.

I copy of the database in the main shotwell-directory could also be held,
and a sync-operation would be needed then... like with source-repositories in git or so.

Ciao,
 Oliver
