I'm guessing, but I suspect that tag hierarchy might not be honoured.
Area images in a watched directory treated like an import?
Would there be much of a saving to using a watched folder instead of
rsyncing the .shotwell folder? I've been doing it for a couple of years
with f-spot and planned doing the same with shotwell. A simple one-liner
when I boot up the netbook and everything's tidy.
rsync -ar kitchen:/jpegs/ /jpegs && rsync -ar
kitchen:/home/dougie/.shotwell/ /home/dougie/.shotwell

why don't you simply check the option to store tags in the pictures (which
should be checked by default in my opinion)?

Why to sync the .shotwell folder too? Just sync the picture folder. Then
let watch Shotwell this folder automatically. That whay you would be
able so sync only some pictures.
