I've just tried the publish to flickr option. Spaces in filenames are converted to %20 (e.g. http://www.flickr.com/photos/djnisbet/6186794432/in/photostream/), whereas if I export from shotwell, then upload from the command line using flickr_upload, the spaces are ok (e.g. http://www.flickr.com/photos/djnisbet/6186298363/in/photostream/).

(A similar thing happens with f-spot if photos are exported - spaces are translated to %20).

This is just an observation as I've never really seen much advantage to exporting/publishing from within the photo application itself. It just ties up shotwell/f-spot/whatever, when it's easier to just export the photos to a directory and upload them using some other mechanism.
