Hi Nigel, Let's figure this one out. First off, what version of Shotwell and what operating system are you on? Also, how many CPUs does your computer have?
If you can repeat this, it would be very helpful if you could provide me with the log file and a stack trace when Shotwell gets stuck on import. To learn how to do that, check out this link<http://redmine.yorba.org/projects/shotwell/wiki/ShotwellFAQ#I-found-a-bug-in-Shotwell-How-can-I-report-it> . Also, you mention that files you imported from another partiton are showing up as missing files when you launch Shotwell (and when the partition in question is not mounted). This is expected behavior. Each time Shotwell starts up, it scans your photo library to verify that all photo files still exist on your hard drive. If Shotwell finds that any photo files are missing, it will not display them in the normal Photos, Events and Tags views, but will instead show them in a separate Missing Files view which will appear in the sidebar. Finally, while we do not run a forum for Shotwell users, if you think you've found a bug, you can search our Redmine bug and issue tracker to see if the bug is known and what its status is. You may also file bug reports in Redmine.
