Hi Csola, Unfortunately, it looks like you've hit a known problem in Shotwell; currently, it doesn't correctly handle very old dates - please see http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/3040 for details. We do hope to fix this at some point in the future.
As for 0.12.3 not being installable (yet), we've received word that it has been accepted into 'proposed', so it should be available as part of the daily update process shortly.
