Hi! a) i will send patches, as soon as somebody helps me with bitbake issue. it stops at libx11 with "makekeys" issue (see my last mails on ML) and i cant get to navit (yet)
b) overcommit memory, hmm. i read many stuff about it. it does allocate memory thats not really there, and when that memory is really needed, some program (you dont know which) will just segfault. that didnt sound good to me :-) if you use must it, it should be reset in the laucher, when navit finishes. and, i am running without overcommit memory for a while now and no issues yet. maybe you can try to run without overcommit and share your experiences? c) i am trying to figure out why i get random crashes. i dont know how to use gdb, at least not when i am outside where i have GPS signal. so most crashes happen when i am driving with my car. my plan now is to go step by step and see when and why it crashes. i am having shr-settings running now whole day (with GPS manual-enable, and auto-suspend off) and no crash yet. so it seems tangogps, navit, geocaching use gps or memory in a way that crashes occur much more often. cheers, Zoff.
