One of the problems is that fixing a bug by bumping a version can
introduce a new bug from that version. So which version should be
preferred? I never use GPRS and seldomly enter a new contact so I am
willing to accept some annoyances if that means I can make phone calls
again. Others use their FR as an internet kiosk device (it seems), and
they will absolutely be annoyed if GPRS breaks while they won't even
notice the missing phone functionality :).

One more problem is that the only way to get a reproducable situation is
a recompile from scratch. With the annoying blackouts that various
servers always have or packages that don't compile and need fixing, a
complete recompile can take up to 3-4 days. By the time I have compiled
a new testing candidate and beta testers could start testing it, new
bugs have been discovered already and I can restart the updating before
even someone flashed it. The long compilation times are really
annoying. I appreciate Bearstech's build server but it's slower than
snails.
