It was 'msdos'; later I tried ext3 which was not reliable; writing files
to the ext3 partition damaged the partition table (see the thread
"microSD && ext3 file system" in the commun...@lists.openmoko.org);

now I have it with 'vfat', but mkfs.vfat only used 1 GB of the
/dev/mmcblk0p1 which was 3.8 GB listed in the partition table; do you
have an idea why ext3 did not worked or why the 'vfat' uses only 1 GB?
