Hi all:)
I've got a FreeRunner (gta02v6) last week, I'm currently in the "exploration
of the device" stage...
I've decided to give a try to SHR, which seems very nice so far, except for
a strange issue with the wifi.
It seems that for starters, all of a sudden eth0 "does not support
scanning"??:
r...@om-gta02 ~ $ iwlist scan
lo Interface doesn't support scanning.
usb0 Interface doesn't support scanning.
pan0 Interface doesn't support scanning.
eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning.
Second issue is, when I try to set an essid for eth0 using iwconfig, it
outputs an error:
r...@om-gta02 ~ $ iwconfig eth0 essid my_essid
Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) :
SET failed on device eth0 ; Input/output error.
"Mokonnect" isn't of any help either, when it actually gives a scan result
(not too often, to say the least), the signal quality is extremely low
(~35-40%), when the phone is rougly 70cm away from the AP.
When I try to connect to one of the APs using mokonnect, it fails with a
timeout message.
I have tried it with two wireless AP's, a Linksys WRT54G2, and a Siemens
Gigaset 604 IL (running Partner's version of Jungo)
On both I have tried it with open, wpa, and wpa2 configurations. Nothing
worked.
(the Siemens worked perfectly fine while using OM2008.12, The Linksys, oddly
enough, didn't. If anyone could tell me something about the Linksys issue,
I'll be thankful too:)
I'm using kernel 2.6.29-rc3 with uboot on GTA02v6 hardware.
I reckon the problem being somewhere in the FSO middleware, dbus requests
and such (I really have no idea about how it works, though I'll be more than
glad to learn)...
Has anyone encountered anything similar, and does anyone have a solution for
this snafu?
Thanks:)
P.S. Pardon my ignorance, can anyone please tell me how to turn the wifi
radio on and off from the command line?
