After a recent upgrade, GPS apps have not been given the GPS resource. Switching GPS on in the settings (Manual, On), allows a fix, then apps can use it.
Possible bug: Set GPS to Manual, On, get a fix, then turn the slider to "Off"; Settings crashes. This crash may happen as a result of the above, but somehow I doubt it. Russell Dwiggins
