Usually there is no need to manually turn on the gps. When an application 
connects to the gpsd or gypsy interface the gps is turned on automatically, 
then turned off when the application stops using it. If you need to remove the 
agps data then exit all gps apps, remove the data, then start a gps app and 
wait a few minutes. If you have a reasonable view of the sky then it should 
soon get a fix.

What application are you trying to use with the gps?

btw repeatedly posting the same message to the list will only annoy people.
