Me and some other users experienced the same lately. I got this almost always
(and exclusively) on automatic suspend.
There seems to be no escape from this on the phone itself. But if I log in
via SSH
and do a "chvt 1", I get X back.

My black-screens had this, too.
Are you running SHR from internal flash (NAND)? It was suggested on the list
that boot from cd card does not suffer this problem. In my case, this was true.
The day before yesterday I installed SHR-U on sd card and never experienced a
black screen ever since.
