I seem to have a similar problem as Christ van Willegen last week:

After flashing SHR-U yesterday, the xserver doesnt boot anymore.
opkg updated & upgraded, no luck. flashed again
a couple of times, reboot a couple of times, no luck.
The only noticable error in /var/log/Xorg.0.log is
[2045761.707] (**) Option "CorePointer"
[2045761.708] (**) Power Button: always reports core events
[2045761.709] (**) Power Button: Device: "/dev/input/event0"
[2045761.724] (WW) Power Button: device file already in use. Ignoring.
[2045761.739] (II) UnloadModule: "evdev"
> [2046522.860] (EE) PreInit returned NULL for "Power Button"
cat < /dev/input/event0 seems to be responding to the power button.
I've moved /etc/pointercal to /etc/pointercal.unused
I didnt have omnewrotate. I installed it and removed it :-)
