This looks like your routing or DNS resolver does not work. This usually
happens to me when I connect my FR to USB before waking it up. It wakes
up by itself but somehow either my Desktop or the FR do not set up their
routing properly (I did not check that closer). So I can reach it via
SSH over USB but I can't do updates or any other internet related activity.
Just unplugging the cable and immediately plugging it again resolves the
problem (or waking up the phone before connecting). The SSH session even
survives that short disconnect.
If you are sure that routing is fine, then try to ping the nameservers
in /etc/resolv.conf on your FR.
