It looks that shr_elm_softkey just needs just more time before it starts (wait until X is up and running?). I made a change to the script in /etc/X11/Xsession.d: ( sleep 60 ; DISPLAY=:0.0 /usr/bin/shr_elm_softkey ) & When the 60 seconds are over, I get the sliding shelf with a tap.
