I just upgraded to get the fast 2.6.32 kernel, and any other improvements. There were a recommendation to flash, but I wanted to try.

There were problem was file clashes.
libdrm2 clashed with libdrm and mesa-dri clashed with libglw1. Obviously, X failed to start.

So I removed the clashing packages forcibly, and installed libdrm2
and mesa-dri again.

Another "opkg upgrade" installed more X packages, and then I could start X. Things are noticeably snappier now, and calls still work. :-)

Apparently, the new image boots faster because it doesn't use udev. Is it possible to get this in an upgraded system too? I noticed the phone still runs udev. Can I just remove it, Or will I have to set up devtmpfs myself in some way?
