I use this functionality on one of my laptops running gentoo, but I've never got it to work with SHR or debian on the moko. I'm using wicd with debian on the moko at the moment, and it does most of this, plus I can set pre-up and post-down scripts to set the power management for networks known to be affected by it like my home one.
