Where do you keep your tiles data? I had a similar problem - running from NAND, TangoGPS makes the system slower until the point of stopping (data and logs on the SD card), and recently I saw that the SD card had a lot of read errors. I installed a new card, but I didn't have it long enough to notice a change in behaviour.
