If I format the SD partition as ext3 using my gentoo box then uboot can't read 
it, but if I do the same on my fedora box it works fine. I assume this due to 
different default filesystem creation options on the different distros, and 
the simplified filesystem access in the bootloader, but I haven't looked to 
see exactly what's going on.
