Peacekeepers find napalm bombs

BAUCAU, East Timor, Oct 7 (AFP) - Philippine troops with the multinational
force in East Timor said Thursday they had found napalm bombs stored at the
airport serving the eastern city of Baucau.

The four bombs -- on which was the English lettering "MK5B" -- were found
inside a concrete shelter near the fire station at Baucau, east of the
territory's capital Dili.

Also in the shelter were scattered papers, an inventory of ammunition, and
machine gun belts. Several landmine casings were scattered outside the
shelter.

Filipino special forces troops said the bombs appeared to be old and to have
been disarmed.

The Times of London reported in 1979, four years after Indonesia invaded East
Timor, that the army was using napalm in its campaign to supress the island's
resistance movement.
