Hi Allan, hi all others, As you might know we started a new project at netlabs.org about extending the Sibyl RAD-GUI based on another compiler. As it looks like Sibyl is finaly dead now, at least the compiler itself. There are no fixes for ages now and I never got an email back from Tom and the others when I asked about the future.
So I decided to set up a project at netlabs.org to make sure that we don't loose this code (the RAD-Tools is available under a LGPL license IIRC). Most developers think VPascal would be the best choice for the compiler but there are several problems I would like to discuss about that. VPascal seems to miss some features which would be needed and we can't implement that without the support of you Allan. As I said I have no idea about what is missing but it looks like some data types are missing and also method overloading. VP is the fastest pascal compiler available and it produces great output so a Sibyl on top of VP would be a very nice thing in my opinion. But for sure it does not make sense to get it to work with VPascal if we can't fix the missing things and if we are not sure about the future of the compiler (however, the mail you wrote sounds quite good to me :-) What do you think about it, would you have the time and the fun to support us in this project with your compiler? Is there a chance that the missing stuff could be written by you or by our people? That's it so far, I think it makes sense to discuss more as soon as you find the time to give some of your thoughts cu Adrian -- Adrian Gschwend @ OS/2 Netlabs ICQ: 22419590 [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------- The OS/2 OpenSource Project: http://www.netlabs.org ----------- To unsubscribe yourself from this list, send the following message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] unsubscribe sibyl end
