No, that is it.

(Other than the intrinsic self-documenting nature of the compact
representation, vs the expansion thereof.)

There are subtleties lost when enumeration is the only solution.

My favorite example of succinct and subtle was in Terminator 2:
  "How many cops are there?"
  "All of them, I think."
