I didn't say I disliked it.  I said that I disliked intermediate ASNs 
manipulating the values an originating AS configured, because it has system 
wide implications and could impact things that were expressly intended by the 
originator of the route.

As a matter of fact, a mandatory transitive attribute provides a nice 
capability for an operator to influence ingress traffic from upstream ASes 
multiple hops away -- and I certainly have realized utility from that in the 
past.
