  grep "olume =" outputfiles
  grep "otal ="  outputfiles

and you get the cell volume and total energy.

Slightly more elegant with bash programmint:

for i in output* ; do vol=`grep "olume =" $i` ; en=`grep "otal =" $i` ; echo $i 
$vol $en ; done >vol_en.dat
