Here is a short introduction. It does not affect the transmission function calculation. It is to calculate the eigen-channels of your system. I.e. the sum of the eigenchannels should equal the transmission. If it doesn't, most likely your TS.TBT.NEigen is lower than the transmission. In general (an "easy" rule) the eigen-channels are fill-step values, i.e. one channel is turned on, and when it is fully transmitting, a new channel will open, when the 2nd channel is fully transmitting, a new channel will open, etc. (of course on the basis that you don't run out of channels).
Hence the value could be chosen to be slightly higher than the maximum transmission in your energy range. Note that it is an integer valued key.
