Hi

Space agencies can get IP as every other organization - through their respective RIR with a well established RIR system. It doesn't seem there is enough demand that justifies a whole new structure for such a specific and low demand. Even the argument of IP aggregation doesn't seem enough to justify something like that.

Hi Folks,
Just thought I would share something that has come to my attention via the RIPE mailing list and recent discussions at RIPE92 in Edinburgh. For those that don't know, there is a working group, that is discussing Interplanetary networks and their future.  How does this affect the RIR System? Well, they will need IP addresses, and this is part of the aim of the working group "Talking IP To Other Planets" (TIPTOP - https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/charter-ietf-tiptop/)

There is a draft linked below that is suggesting how the working group envisage this can be done.

If you would like to see what was discussed at the RIPE92 meeting, here is the link.
