Try changing your fontpaths in /etc/X11/XF86Config (if you are using
XFree) to:
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/:unscaled"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/:unscaled"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/"
Worked for me. Those fonts came from the following RPMs, all part of
the redhat 5.1 distribution/updates:
XFree86-3.3.2-13
XFree86-75dpi-fonts-3.3.2-13
XFree86-100dpi-fonts-3.3.2-13
- Usama.
