hmm. i just used mount -t iso9660 on some joliet CD's and got the following
in my logs:

Nov 1 14:45:30 fatman kernel: VFS: Disk change detected on device 16:00
Nov 1 14:45:34 fatman kernel: ISO9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 1
Nov 1 14:45:34 fatman kernel: Max size:333570 Log zone size:2048
Nov 1 14:45:34 fatman kernel: First datazone:24 Root inode number 49152

and i get beautiful long filenames with CAPS & spaces as intended.

this is with kernel 2.0.34

perhaps your CD's are no good? i've had plenty of trouble with CD's i've
burned being the wrong type for various OS'es under which they weren't
burned...win95 CD's that are screwed up under linux (altho i think that
was before joliet was available for linux), and CD's burned under MacOS
that lost the CAPS/lowercase info when mounted on unix.

everything i've burned under linux for linux has worked fine, and ditto
macos/win95 when it actually managed to churn out a disk instead of a coaster.

sorry i don't have anymore advice for you, but for me, finally, things
"just work"
