You know ... you might want to sit back and think about yourself for a minute.
You seem to be the only one flaming people about distro choice, and that's
after someone suggests redhat as a distro for a new user.
Maybe these people were less knowledgable about linux than you were, and have
found that redhat is a good place to start for a non-unix beginner. Was your
computer delivered with a copy of Debian in the disk drive? Maybe one day
it will be, but as for now .. you have to think about those who know nothing
of unix, and are venturing into an area they don't understand anyhow. We want
to keep them in that interested state, not scared off or frustrated with a
lack of documentation or installation ease. I started on slackware, and god
knows I'd never recommend that to anyone in there right mind. Too bad at the
time there was no other real distribution.
I have also heard many good things about SUSE ... and in time once its docs
evolve a bit, I'll probably recommend that to users instead of redhat.
But I'd slow down on YOUR high debian horse and try to think about some other
more non-educated points of view before you go off spouting about open source
and the other things that debian embraces.
Have you ever stopped to think that maybe some people don't give a damn about
the open source policy, and just want to run linux?
