How do I circumvent colormap allocation warnings?
For example:
Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for "#C0C0C0"
Warning:
Cannot allocate colormap entry for default background
Sometimes when I log into a cs machine the system can't even see fit to
finding the colors for my xterms much less colors for the buttons of my
xcdplayer. At other times, on a different linux machine the colors are
available. My system at home is less fickle, but the problem still arises
on occaision.
How many different colors are available? Maybe 16?
Where can I find a list of all valid color names?
Are the colorful afterstep button pixmaps responsible for eating my
available colors?
I'm not trying to do anything fancy...I just want a functional desktop.

I realize that this has little to do with Linux and more to do with x
servers, but maybe one of you sports will help me out.
