undeniably, bloatware. but, it works, and right now nothing else comes
vaguely close to the same office9x compatibility.
it turns out that not one but two departments on campus have bought
*campuswide* licenses. so, anyone, anywhere on campus can use any
version of any SO product, legally. not that that really changes anything
i guess =). i'll be figuring out the "net install" features sometime in
january and will share my experiences with the list.

while i certainly hope it can and does, the prerelease of v8 didn't.
v7 didn't. i have low hopes :(
and SO will continue to be useful for exporting to office97 formats,
as well as reading powerpoint etc files, as well as running in a web
browser on a mac or anything java-enabled. (there's a java-only version)
